Psychotherapy and Counselling Training, Qualifications & Experience

Psychotherapy may initially feel unfamiliar but it is essentially a conversation aimed at fostering understanding of personal experience leading to greater appreciation of what might have led us to feel distressed. All of this is in the service and hope that a more creative manner of relating to ourselves, others and life in general can be nurtured.

I bring to my work a sensitivity to your experience alongside expertise in the field of psychology and psychotherapy.

I am a professionally qualified and experienced Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Counsellor trained to Masters Level. I am also an accredited member of BACP. After graduating in Psychology with a BSc (Hon), I undertook 6 years Post Graduate professional training in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of London. I have 18 years clinical experience working in private practice in London and Somerset, seeing individuals and couples and as a Psychotherapist in the outpatient psychotherapy department of a large NHS London mental health hospital. I am further trained and experienced in providing telephone and online video sessions to individuals and couples.

Prior to my clinical training I worked for a number of years at various management levels in charitable and corporate organisations within the public and private sectors. I have also been employed as a telephone counselling assessor for an employee assistance provider.

I work full-time in private practice in Spaxton, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA5 1BS and at 7 Harley Street, London W1G 8BJ. I see individuals for long and short term psychotherapy and counselling, and couples for couples counselling or psychosexual counselling. I also provide supervision to counsellors. I provide short term psychological interventions to clients from employee assistance providers, provide onsite counselling response for trauma related to critical incidents and work with other organisations . I also provide telephone and online counselling to national and international clients.
